Television Centre has won ‘Development of the Year’ at the 2019 RESI Awards. This follows its recent success in winning ‘Best London Commercial Workplace’ at the British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards for the office building 2TVC.
Organised by Property Week, the RESI Awards bring together key players of the residential property sector in celebrating their successes over the past year. At a gala event held at Grosvenor House Hotel, industry leaders nominated Television Centre joint winner for ‘Development of the Year’, selecting from a field of 12 strong competitors.
The BCO Awards programme aims to recognise top quality design and functionality while setting a benchmark for excellence in workplaces. At their recent Regional Awards, 2 Television Centre (2TVC) won ‘Best Commercial Workplace’, impressing judges who felt the exterior’s architecture reflected the site’s history, while the interior delivered a flexible, modern and sustainable workspace.
Television Centre has previously been recognised at the 2018 AJ Architecture Awards, winning the highly coveted Mixed-use Project of the Year category with judges praising the redevelopment of the Grade II listed building as a ‘truly mixed-use scheme done really well’.
The £1bn first phase of Television Centre’s renovation was completed in 2018 and now features housing, offices, restaurants and cafés, a three-screen cinema, a club with a roof-top pool, and television production facilities, all set in landscaped gardens.
Mitsui Fudosan’s other noted and award-winning projects include Angel Court, shortlisted for four prestigious awards including the RIBA London Awards in 2017, 8-10 Moorgate, which won the prestigious City Heritage Award in 2015, and 5 Hanover Square, winner of the London LABC National Building Excellence Award for Best Small Commercial Building in 2013.
